Women's Tennis Falls, 5-2, to SNHU

HOOKSETT, N.H. (September 12, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Northeast-10 foe Southern New Hampshire at the Penman Stadium Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped the Ravens to 2-1 on the season, while SNHU move to 1-0.  

SNHU's Alexxa Etienne and Mina Houge took the first doubles match against duo of graduate Himani Mor (Sonipat, India) and junior Liria Loria (La Paz, Bolivia), 6-0. The SNHU pair Elizabeth Dwyer and Isabella Andrade grabbed the next point, defeating graduate Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) and sophomore Zoe Asterio Correa (Toronton, Ontario), 6-1. Natalie Kallmunzerova and Magdalena Hubickova of SNHU clinched the doubles point after defeating graduate Anais Geslin (Livry-Gargin, France) and sophomore Maria Penalver Aguilo (Las Palmas, Spain) 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.

Kallmunzerova of SNHU claimed the first point in singles competition at No. 1, defeating Geslin, 6-0, 6-1. The next two points went to the Ravens as Carra defeated Dwyer of SNHU, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, before Mor downed SNHU's Andrade, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Unfortunately, SNHU took the final three points at No. 3, No. 6 and No. 2. Etienne defeated Loria, 6-3, 6-1, while Guntra Upeniece of SNHU won over Asterio Correa 6-2, 6-2. Hubickova of SNHU clinched the match after downing Penalver Aguilo 6-1, 7-6 (7-3), 10-8.

The Crimson and Grey will travel to Flushing, N.Y., for the ITA East Regional on Friday, September 17, through Monday, September 20, at the USTA National Tennis Center. Times and match opponents will be announced at a later date.
