Women’s Tennis Falls at Webber International, 9-0

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2019)  The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on the road on Wednesday, 9-0, at Webber International in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-16, while Webber International improves to 8-5.

Webber International opened play with wins in all three doubles matches to open up a 3-0 lead. Franklin Pierce kept things close at third doubles, where senior Shelli Safran (Boxborough, Mass.) and junior Kelly O'Donnell (Maywood, N.J.) suffered an 8-6 defeat to seniors Jordashia Watson and Alissa Riedel.

The Warriors followed up with wins in all six singles matches as well, to finish off the 9-0 victory. Franklin Pierce put up its biggest fights at first and second singles. At first singles, junior Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) suffered a 6-2, 6-3 defeat against sophomore Emily John. At second singles, John's younger sister, freshman Paula John, posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over freshman Grayson LaCroix (Cherry Valley, Mass.).

The Ravens return to the court on Thursday, March 21, when they wrap up their three-match trip to Florida by paying a visit to Warner for a non-conference contest at noon in Lake Wales, Fla.
