ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 18, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on the road on Monday, 7-0, at Eckerd in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-15, while Eckerd improves to 5-7. The contest opened a three-match Florida swing for the Ravens.

Eckerd opened play by taking all three doubles matches, by identical, 6-1 scores, to claim the doubles point. The Tritons would go on to win all six singles matches as well, to complete the 7-0 shutout.

The Ravens put up a fight at both first and second singles. At first singles, junior Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) suffered a 6-0, 6-3 defeat to Eckerd sophomore Taylor Selby. At second singles, freshman Grayson LaCroix (Cherry Valley, Mass.) was extremely competitive early, but suffered a 7-5, 6-0 defeat at the hands of senior MaryAnn Aaron.

The Ravens continue their Florida trip on Wednesday, March 20, when they travel to Webber International for a non-conference match at 10 a.m. in Babson Park, Fla.
