RINDGE, N.H. (October 1, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at home against Saint Anselm on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-8 (0-5 NE10), while Saint Anselm improves to 3-4 (2-4 NE10).

Only able to field five healthy bodies, the Ravens opened the day in a 2-0 hole, as they had to default at both third doubles and sixth singles.

The most competitive match of the day came at first doubles. The duo of sophomore Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) and senior Sonia Rodrigues (Swansea, Mass.) held their own, but ultimately dropped an 8-5 decision to Saint Anselm senior Jess Perkins and sophomore Kaitlin Hughes.

Perkins led the Hawks on the day, as she picked up wins in both first singles and first doubles. Following the doubles win alongside Hughes, Perkins downed Wyatt at first singles, 8-0.

The Ravens return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 3, when they travel to Merrimack for an NE10 match at 3 p.m. in North Andover, Mass.
