Women’s Tennis Falls at Webber International, 9-0

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on the road in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0, at Webber International.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-17, while Webber International improves to 5-10.

Webber International opened play with wins in all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. The closest of the three contests came at third doubles. Webber International senior Juliana Fuentes and sophomore Alissa Riedel doubled up Franklin Pierce senior Maria Quagliano (Branford, Conn.) and junior Shelli Safran (Boxborough, Mass.), 8-4.

The Warriors also took all six singles matches, without dropping a set, to finish off the 9-0 win. The most competitive singles match was at first singles, where sophomore Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) ultimately dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to freshman Emily John.

All six Webber International players were victorious in both singles and doubles play on Tuesday.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, March 21, when they wrap up their spring break trip by visiting Warner for a non-conference match at 9:30 a.m. in Winter Haven, Fla.
