RINDGE, N.H (10/24/2023) -- The Franklin Pierce women's soccer team captured their second win at Sodexo Field tonight and received a crucial three points in the NE-10 standings as they beat the New Haven Chargers, 2-1.

Franklin Pierce picks up their 23rd win all-time against New Haven. The Ravens improve to 4-4-6 (3-4-3 NE-10) with the win. The Chargers are on a ten-game losing streak as they fall to 3-11 (1-8 NE-10).

The first half was about New Haven sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Daley, who made seven saves in the first half. A little over 10 minutes into the match, New Haven scored the game's first goal on their first shot of the evening. Sophomore defender Riley Drospoulos kicked the ball out of the Charger Zone. Senior forward Macy Litalien sent the ball toward freshman defender Jannayah Body, who tapped it past the sliding Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, MA) for her second goal in two matches.

When Franklin Pierce gave up the early goal, they started applying pressure on the New Haven back line. With less than 12 minutes to go in the first half, Franklin Pierce got the equalizer. The Ravens were working the ball in the offensive zone when senior forward Hailey Goodman (Blackstone, MA) sent it high in the air toward the net on Daley. The ball went off the crossbar and into the net for her second goal of the season and 10th career goal as a member of the Ravens to tie the match at one. The match was tied at one heading into halftime.

Franklin Pierce controlled the tempo in the second half and continued to pepper Daley. New Haven struggled to create chances in the offensive zone. The Ravens got their first lead of the match in the 53rd minute. Junior midfielder Brianna Trappett (Newcastle, Australia) found sophomore midfielder Claudia Peirce (Carver, MA) as she fired a shot from long distance past the diving Daley for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Franklin Pierce held on to pick up their fourth win of the season.

The Ravens outshot the Chargers 19-3. Fox made two saves and picked up her fourth win of the season. Daley made 12 saves for New Haven in the loss.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens remain at Sodexo Field for the final home game of the season on Saturday, October 28th, as they take on Assumption University at 3 p.m. Before the start of the match, Franklin Pierce will honor their graduating seniors.
