HOOKSETT, N.H. (9/27/2023) – Franklin Pierce women's soccer recorded its third tie of the season Wednesday night in a 1-1 final against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University.

The Ravens are now 1-2-3 (0-2-1, NE10) on the season.

Playing under the lights at Mark A. Quellette Stadium, the Ravens and the Penmen battled through the majority of the first half with neither team finding the back of the net. It wasn't until the 37th minute when the Ravens were first to get on the board.

Controlling the ball just passed midfield, Raven's freshmen midfielder Jenni Huttunen (Suomi, Finland) sent a pass to freshmen midfielder Johanne Guldbaek-Pedersen (Hadsten, Denmark). Guldbaek-Pedersen caught the ball with a SNHU defender on her tail and another closing in. Just in the nick of time, Guldbaek-Pedersen blasted a right footer from 10 yards above the box. Shot hard and high, the ball hit the top right corner as SNHU's goalie missed a diving save. With the goal, the Ravens went up 1-0 heading into halftime.

Southern New Hampshire was quick to respond in the second half, scoring 1:58 after halftime ended. SNHU possessed the ball in the corner of the Raven's defensive zone. With plenty of pressure from the Raven's defense, SNHU's Imogen Noon hit a cross to the to the center of the box. There she found SNHU's Georgia Greene who hit a one-timer chip shot bottom left tying the score 1-1.

The remaining 44 minutes included a combined 19 shots from the Ravens and Penmen but none found the back of the net. Goalies for both teams played well with FPU's Emilie Fox recording seven saves on eight shots on goal and SNHU's goalie saving six of the seven shots she faced.

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens are back on the road this Saturday for another away game against Southern Connecticut State at 6:00 PM.
