RINDGE, N.H. (9/2/2023) The Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Queens College (N.Y.) 3-0.

With the victory, the Ravens improve to (1-0-1, 0-0-0 NE-10) on the season. With the loss, the Knights move to (0-1-1, 0-0-0 ECC).

The first half was dominated by the Ravens, outshooting the Knights 17-1 but neither team could find the back of the net as the game remained scoreless after 45 minutes.

The Ravens quickly found the scoresheet in the second half, striking first in the 48th minute. Senior Gianna Derose (Brewtser, N.Y.)  lofted a pass to freshman Jenni Huttunen (Suomi, Finland) who fired it into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

They continued their offensive attack shortly after, stretching their lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Sophomore Claudia Peirce (Carver, Mass.) dished a pass to a streaking senior Hailey Goodman (Blackstone, Mass.) along the left wing, who tucked it in the back of the net putting the Ravens up by a pair.

The Ravens put the final nail in the coffin in the 58th minute. Claudia Peirce picked up her second assist of the game as sophomore Mollie Cahalane cleaned up the rebound after her header attempt to put the Ravens ahead 3-0, sealing the game.

For junior goal keeper Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.), the win marks her 7th career shutout and first shutout victory (1-0-1) of the season after being forced to make only 2 saves on the afternoon. Erin Kelly suffered the loss in net for the Knights (0-1-1), stopping 9-of-12 shots she faced.

The Ravens return to action on Friday (9/8) to face NE-10 foe Bentley in a non-conference matchup at Sodexo Field with kickoff at 7 p.m.
