Women's Soccer Ranks 12th Nationally in United Soccer Coaches Pre-Season Poll

Kansas City, MO. (8/2/2023) – United Soccer Coaches released its NCAA Division II Top 25 Pre-season Poll Monday and Franklin Pierce University Women's Soccer ranked 12th nationally.

United Soccer Coaches is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization that serves members at every level of the game.

In 2022, the team boasted a 16-4-3 overall record, went 10-2 in the Northeast-10 and dominated at home going 9-1-1 when playing on Sodexo Field. Late in the season the Ravens pushed their campaign to the Northeast-10 Championship Semi-final before falling to Adelphi in double overtime.

A week later the team received the nod into NCAA Division II playoffs where the team flew through Southern New Hampshire University 3-1, beat Bridgeport in a game decided by Penalty Kicks and then took down number 6 nationally ranked Saint Rose 2-1 in double overtime. The team's season concluded in late November after a heartbreaking loss in double overtime to number 2 nationally ranked West Chester.

After the season came to an end, the women's program received a list of accolades from United Soccer Coaches. Head coach Matt Johnson and his team of coaches were named Women's NCAA DII East Region Staff of the Year. On the player side, Aino Martikainen was named to the USC Women's Soccer All-American First Team while Jasmine Perez-Acosta made Second Team. As for the USC All-East Region selection, Aino Martikainen and Jasmine Perez-Acosta made first team, Pinja Eklund and Salome Kerguilec made second team.
