GREENVILLE, S.C. (November 30, 2022) -- Junior Aino Martikainen (Järvenpää, Finland) of the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team has earned All-America First Team honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), as announced on Wednesday. It is the first career All-America selection for Martikainen.

Martikainen, the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and a D2CCA All-East Region First Team pick, headed a Franklin Pierce defense which surrendered just 0.84 goals and 5.13 shots on goal per game over the course of the season, and posted 11 shutouts on the way to a 16-4-3 record. A consensus All-East Region pick a year ago, she started all 23 games this fall, and was the team's second-leading scorer as well, with 15 points on six goals and three assists. The six goals was tied for seventh in the NE10, while the 15 points were tied for ninth.

The Ravens captured their first NCAA East Region title since 2007, and advanced to the national quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship.
