MANSFIELD, Mass. (November 1, 2022) -- Yet again, junior Aino Martikainen (Järvenpää, Finland) of the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team has been named as Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, this time for the week ending on Oct. 30, as announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.

It is the fourth straight selection as Defensive Player of the Week for Martikainen, who headed up a defensive effort which held Bridgeport to just four shots on goal in a 1-1 draw on the road in the regular-season finale last Wednesday. She also scored Franklin Pierce's only goal in the game, which was the equalizer in the 71^st minute.

On the season, Martikainen and the Franklin Pierce defense have yielded just 0.67 goals and 3.89 shots on goal per game. It is Martikainen's fifth selection as NE10 Defensive Player of the Week this season.

Martikainen and the rest of the Ravens (14-2-2) are home on Thursday, Nov. 3, when they host Adelphi in the semifinal round of the NE10 Championship. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at Sodexo Field.
