Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. (November 10, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team had three players earn All-Northeast-10 Conference accolades on Wednesday afternoon, as the league announced its annual end-of-season awards. The Ravens' honorees were highlighted by a pair of All-NE10 First Team selections, in freshmen Jasmine Perez-Acosta (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Aino Martikainen (Järvenpää, Finland), both of who were named to the All-Rookie Team as well. In addition, junior Viridiana Vazquez Kloss (Veracruz, Mexico) was selected to the All-NE10 Third Team.

It marked the first career All-Conference selection for all three Ravens.

Despite missing four games this season, Perez-Acosta stands as the team's leading scorer, with 16 points, on five goals and six assists, with the latter figure being tied for second in the NE10. The 16 points are tied for seventh in the league, while she is one of only 18 players in the conference to score five or more goals on the season. Perez-Acosta chalked up three game-winning goals and has attempted a team-best 49 shots, which is tied for fourth in the NE10.

For her part, Martikainen has started all 17 games, as part of a back line which has allowed only 0.67 goals per game on the season. She also emerged as the team's primary threat on set pieces, with three goals to show for it, including one game-winner, on 17 shot attempts.

Vazquez Kloss has started all 17 games on the back line as well. The team's fourth-leading scorer, she has amassed 11 points on four goals and three assists, and has attempted 23 shots.

The Ravens (9-4-4) were eliminated on penalties on Sunday in the quarterfinal round of the NE10 Championship at Assumption, and must wait on a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
