RINDGE, N.H. (October 29, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Friday night, as the Ravens acknowledged the achievements of the program's 10 seniors prior to the game. The celebration did not stop with the pregame ceremony though, as a first-half goal from senior Ciersten Palumbo (Holbrook, N.Y.) gave the Ravens a 1-0 win over Northeast-10 Conference opponent Le Moyne College at Sodexo Field.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 9-3-3 (6-3-3 NE10), while Le Moyne falls to 2-9-3 (1-8-3 NE10).

Palumbo's marker came in the 21st minute. Following a throw-in near midfield, fellow senior Viridiana Vazquez Kloss (Veracruz, Mexico) carried the ball down the right side, before cutting towards the goal along the end line. She was able to find Palumbo in the center of the box, and the latter put the ball into the bottom of the Dolphins' goal to score what would stand as the only goal of the night. For Palumbo, it was her first goal of the season, and her first since Oct. 8, 2019, against Saint Anselm.

The rest of the game provided no further scoring, despite lots of pressure from the Franklin Pierce attack. With five shot attempts in the first half and another nine in the second, the Ravens possessed the ball in the Le Moyne end throughout the game, to the tune of advantages of 14-5 in shot attempts and 8-1 in shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.) needed to make only one save in the Franklin Pierce net to pick up the win (2-1-0) and record her first collegiate shutout. Junior Allison Moreau (2-9-3) stood at the other end of the field and made seven saves against eight shots in the loss.

The Ravens are back in action for the final game of the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 3, when they welcome Assumption University to Sodexo Field for an NE10 matchup at 7 p.m.
