COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 26, 2021) – A pair of goals in the first 14 minutes were all that were in it on a wet Tuesday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team paid a visit to Saint Michael's for a Northeast-10 Conference affair. Freshman Delaney Farinha (Preston, Conn.) found the back of the net for the Ravens, while freshman Christina Cummings answered for the Purple Knights, as the two sides played to a 1-1 (2 OT) draw at Doc Jacobs Field.

With the tie, Franklin Pierce now stands at 8-3-3 (5-3-3 NE10), while Saint Michael's moves to 5-6-4 (2-5-4 NE10).

Franklin Pierce took the lead early on, in the seventh minute. The Ravens moved the ball up the field quickly before sophomore Anna Crapanzano (Milano, Italy) regrouped and gave the ball to Farinha just outside the Purple Knights' box. Farinha cut towards the middle and fired a rocket of a shot to the top-left corner of the goal with her left foot, to notch her second goal of the season.

Saint Michael's tied the game up just under seven minutes later, in the 14th minute. The Purple Knights started with possession at the midfield line following a stoppage in play and sent the ball forward towards junior Izzy Ruprecht. Ruprecht put a through-ball into the Ravens' box for Cummings, who tapped it into the bottom-right corner of the net with her right foot for her second goal of the campaign.

Things would be fairly even statistically throughout the afternoon. Franklin Pierce held a 12-10 edge in shot attempts, while Saint Michael's posted a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Neither team would find the net a second time though, as the two sides went on to the 1-1 draw.

Freshman Gabby Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Fla.) made six saves on seven shots on goal in the tie (7-2-3) in front of the Franklin Pierce net. Junior Katie Escobedo (4-6-4) was her counterpart for the Purple Knights and stopped four of the five shots on her net.

Franklin Pierce is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 30, for Senior Day at Sodexo Field against Le Moyne College, in the Ravens' final home game of the regular season. The NE10 contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
