SECAUCUS, N.J. (September 11, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team poured in four first-half goals on Saturday afternoon, as the Ravens rolled to their third straight shutout win to open the season. In all, five different players put home a goal at Laurel Hill Park, as Franklin Pierce posted a 6-0, non-conference win on the road at Nyack. Sophomore Anna Crapanzano (Milano, Italy) was able to do one better than her teammates, as she scored a pair to lead the way.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 3-0-0, with all three victories coming via shutout on the road, while Nyack falls to 3-1-0.

In the first half, Franklin Pierce outshot Nyack 10-2, including an 8-1 margin in shots on target. It all led to a four-goal first-half barrage for the Ravens, who never looked back.

In the ninth minute, Crapanzano scored her first goal as a Raven, off a feed from Goodman. Three minutes later, in the 12th, junior back Viridiana Vazquez Kloss (Veracruz, Mexico) notched her second goal in as many games to make it a 2-0 Ravens lead, while Perez-Acosta contributed an assist

Franklin Pierce would pot two more before halftime. Perez-Acosta struck first, in the 20th minute, also for her second goal in as many games, to push the lead out to 3-0. Crapanzano followed with her second goal of the day, in the 23rd, to make it a 4-0 lead for the crimson and grey heading into halftime.

The Ravens scored twice more in the second half to win going away. In the 64th minute, Goodman finished off an assist from freshman Rachael Fantoni (Marion, Mass.) to make it 5-0. For Goodman, that made three goals and two assists, for eight points, over the last two games. Just shy of five minutes later, in the 69th minute, freshman forward Delaney Farinha (Preston, Conn.) scored the final goal of the afternoon to make it a 6-0 game.

When it was all said and done, the Ravens outshot the Warriors, 18-4, and piled up an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Gabby Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Fla.) picked up her second shutout in three games with a three-save performance to notch the win (3-0-0). Senior Lea Zehringer (3-1-0) was under siege at the other end, but finished with just five saves against 11 shots.

The Ravens will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, against Stonehill College at Sodexo Field. Franklin Pierce's home opener is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
