United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 11, 2019) – Senior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior midfielder Gabi Pereira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team have both earned All-East Region honors from United Soccer Coaches, as announced earlier this week by the coaches organization. Marques was named to the All-East Region Second Team, while Pereira landed on the All-East Region Third Team.

For Marques, it marks her second straight All-Region selection, as she was a consensus First Team selection last season. For Pereira, it is her first career All-Region accolade.

Marques started in 15 games for the Ravens and led the team in scoring with 17 points on six goals and five assists. The 17 points is currently tied for 13^th in the NE10, while the six goals is tied for 14^th and the five assists is tied for eighth. Marques attempted 74 shots, including 41 on goal, and tallied one game-winning goal along the way.

Meanwhile, Pereira was the team’s second-leading scorer, hot on Marques’ heels, with 16 points on a team-high seven goals and two assists. The 16 points is tied for 14^th in the Conference, and the seven goals is tied for 12^th. Pereira attempted 46 shots, including 22 shots on goal, and scored one game-winning goal.
