Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 at No. 17 Saint Rose

Jocelyn Leon makes seven saves in goal

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 22, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 17 Saint Rose on Saturday in Albany, N.Y. The Ravens fell to 6-8-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Golden Knights improved to 14-1-1 and 11-1-1 in league play.

Saint Rose scored a goal in each half to cruise on to the win. Gianna D'Errico scored the match's first goal in the 19th minute when she deflected in a loose ball after Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Jocelyn Leon (Lenox, Mass.) failed to cleanly handle a crossing pass in front of the goal. Brittany Godin scored the final goal in the 62nd minute when she slammed home a rebound attempt off an initial save by Leon. It was D'Errico's fourth tally of the season and Godin's sixth.

Golden Knights goalkeeper Jessica Gerski stopped four shots to earn the shutout victory and run her record to 14-1-1 on the season. Saint Rose outshot Franklin Pierce, 15-7, including putting nine on goal. Leon suffered the loss despite making seven saves and fell to 6-8-1 on the year.



Franklin Pierce was led offensively by sophomore Talita Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), who fired off three shots, including putting two on net. Junior midfielder Tori Gikas (Sydney, Australia) recorded two shots in the match.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Wednesday when the Ravens play host to Saint Anselm at 4 p.m. in Sodexo Field in Rindge.
