Jocelyn Leon Named NE-10 Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week

First weekly award for Leon this season

RINDGE, N.H. (October 17, 2011) -- Franklin Pierce University senior Jocelyn Leon (Lenox, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday for her two impressive performances for the Ravens last week. It marked the first time this season Leon received the league's weekly award.

Leon went 1-0-1 with a pair of shutouts last week, her third and fourth blankings of the year. She made four saves, including a pair with just :13 remaining in regulation during Wednesday's 0-0 tie with American International. However, Leon saved her best performance for Saturday in the team's 3-0 blanking of No. 25-nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State. Leon made five saves, including two late in the match to preserve the shutout victory. The win over SCSU marked Franklin Pierce's second-consecutive victory against a nationally-ranked opponent.

Leon is 6-6-1 on the season with a solid 0.97 goals against average. She is playing her best soccer of the season lately as she has posted her four shutouts over the past seven matches.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Tuesday when the Ravens travel to Easton, Mass. to face Stonehill at 3:30 p.m.
