Former Women's Soccer Standout Laura Hislop Inducted into Northeast-10 Hall of Fame

Hislop was named the 2003 NSCAA National Player of the Year after leading the country in scoring with 85 points

RINDGE, N.H. (June 7, 2012) -- Former Franklin Pierce University women's soccer standout Laura Hislop (Class of '06) was recently inducted into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame. The induction was made on Tuesday night at the conference's annual year-end banquet, which was held in Portsmouth, N.H.

It marks the third-consecutive year a former Franklin Pierce great has been inducted into the league's hall of fame. Hislop joins former University President Dr. George Hagerty (2010) and former baseball great Justin Blood (2011) as the new Franklin Pierce inductees over the past three years.

Hislop had an amazing career for Franklin Pierce, including being named the 2003 NSCAA National Player of the Year after leading the nation with 85 points (31 g, 23 a) that season. She returned in 2004 and once again led all of Division II in scoring as she registered 31 goals and 15 assists for 77 points. She also earned first-team All-America honors during each of her three seasons in Rindge (2003-05).

Hislop was twice named the NE-10 player of the year (2004 & 2005), while leading the league in scoring for three-straight years.

The program recorded several major accomplishments during Hislop's three years as she helped lead the team to three-straight conference regular season and tournament championships and three trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament, including a berth in the 2003 national championship match.

Franklin Pierce will honor Hislop for her induction into the NE-10 Hall of Fame next spring at the University's own annual year-end banquet and hall of fame induction ceremony. That event will be a part of the school's year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary.
