Women's Soccer's Amanda Panaro Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third-Team

Second major award for Panaro this week

RINDGE, N.H. (November 19, 2010) -- Franklin Pierce University women's soccer standout Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass.) on Friday was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third-Team for her achievements on the field, but more importantly in the classroom.

A standout on the academic side, Panaro was named to the publication's Academic All-District I First-Team last month. The junior sports an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.81 in her major of mass communications.

Panaro led the Northeast-10 Conference in goals (20) and points (44) this season, while also helping to lead Franklin Pierce to the program's 19th-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament (an NCAA record). The Ravens also advanced to the conference's championship match in early-November. Panaro recorded a pair of hat-tricks on the season.

She was named to the All-NE-10 First-Team two weeks ago and earlier this week was named to the Daktronics All-East Region First-Team. By earning All-East Region honors, Panaro will now be up for consideration for the organization's All-America squad.

To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
