Jocelyn Leon Named NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week for Second-Straight Week
Panaro also named to Weekly Honor Roll
RINDGE, N.H. (October 25, 2010) -- Franklin Pierce
University women's soccer junior goalkeeper Jocelyn Leon
(Lenox, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference
Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday for her two outstanding
performances last week. It marked the second-consecutive week she
earned the league's top weekly goalkeeping award.
Leon made three saves in a little more than 80 minutes of action
and helped produce a shutout in Tuesday's 5-0 win over Stonehill.
However, her best performance came in a 1-0 setback to No. 1 Saint
Rose on Saturday, as she faced 11 shots and turned away 10 of those
to produce a career-high for saves in a contest. Several of Leon's
saves in the second half required her to make outstanding diving
attempts to help keep the Ravens in the contest.
She also earned the top goalkeeper award from the league last week
after posting a pair of shutout victories on the road the week
prior to that.
Also on Monday, junior forward Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass.) was named to the Northeast-10 Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll for recording a hat trick and assisting on another goal for a seven-point night in the win over Stonehill.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
Wednesday when the Ravens close out the regular season by traveling
to Manchester to face Saint Anselm at 3:45 p.m.
