No. 22 Women's Soccer Downs Pace, 7-0, on Saturday

Gabriela Demoner totals three goals

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (September 26, 2009) – The 22nd-ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team collected a 7-0 triumph over Pace on Saturday afternoon in Briarcliff, N.Y. The win was Franklin Pierce’s sixth straight, as all six victories have come via shutout. The Ravens (8-2-0, 6-1-0 Northeast-10) have posted 30 goals during its impressive winning streak. Pace fell to 1-7-1 and 0-7-0 in the league.

Senior midfielder Gabriela Demoner (Vitoria, Brazil) scored three times to pace the Ravens in the win. It marked the second time in the past four games that she scored three times in a contest. Demoner also turned the trick on Sept. 15 at Saint Michael’s, as she scored all three of Franklin Pierce’s goals in the 3-0 win.

Junior forward Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden) notched a pair of goals against Pace, marking the second-straight contest she scored multiple goals. Johansson recorded three markers in Tuesday’s win over Bentley. Junior midfielder Shona Franklin (Birmingham, England) also had a strong game as she had a goal and two assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Casey Edward (Marshfield, Mass.) saw most of the action in net for the Ravens and made three saves to help preserve the shutout. Franklin Pierce held a commanding 31-6 advantage in total shots.

Sophomore forward Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass.) got the scoring started for Franklin Pierce with a goal at the 10:18 mark. Demoner chipped in the first of her three with 15 minutes gone by, and Johansson followed with a pair at the 26:18 and 34:46 marks. Demoner scored two more times, a little more than three minutes apart, in the opening stages of the second half. Her second goal of the game came at 45:48 and her final tally came at 48:57. Franklin capped the scoring for the Ravens with a goal at 61:16.
