Angelika Johansson Earns NE-10 Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Award for Women's Soccer
First year the award has been handed out by the conference
RINDGE, N.H. (March 3, 2010) – Franklin
Pierce University standout Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg,
Sweden) recently earned the Northeast-10 Conference
Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Award for the sport of
women’s soccer. It marks the first year the NE-10 is handing
out such awards to one representative of each league-sponsored
sport.
Johansson, a mathematics major with a 3.98 cumulative grade point
average, started all 24 matches this past season for Franklin
Pierce as she recorded 20 goals (second-straight season she had at
least 20 goals) and assisted on three others for 43 points. She
ranked among the national and conference leaders in both
categories.
Johansson earned All-Northeast-10 First-Team honors along with
NSCAA All-America accolades this season. The junior forward also
received ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I
First-Team honors and was later named to the publication’s
Academic All-America Second-Team. She was also named to the NE-10
Academic All-Conference team for the second straight season.
