BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (October 4, 2008) - Sophomore All-American Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden) netted a first half hat trick to lead Franklin Pierce University to a 5-0 victory over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Pace Field this afternoon.

Johansson netted her third hat trick of the season to give Franklin Pierce all the goals it would need in the span of ten minutes in the closing 15 minutes of the first half. Senior Kelly Johnson (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) and junior All-American Gabriela Demoner (Curitiba, Brazil) each added goals in the final ten minutes to ice the victory.

program's career list. Junior Breanna Gault (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) finished with seven stops for Pace, who was out-shot 17-6 by the Ravens, including a 10-1 margin in the first half.

Johansson opened her hat trick effort in the 30th minute, when she took a pass from senior Kristen Cilley (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) and chipped a shot over Gault. She struck again just six minutes later, with a sliding shot on the left side off a pass from junior Allison Haines (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) at the 36-minute mark. Johansson completed her scoring in the 40th minute with another chip over Gault, this time unassisted, for her NE-10 best 15th goal of the season.

Franklin Pierce added two late goals to round out the scoring. Demoner converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, before Johnson scored her second goal of the season (both this week), assisted by Shannon Mulvey (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat), in the 87th.

Franklin Pierce (7-2-1, 5-1-1 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday, when it hosts the University of Massachusetts Lowell for a key Northeast-10 Conference match up at 6 p.m. Pace (2-7-0, 2-6-0 NE-10) visits Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
