RINDGE, N.H. (August 30, 2008) - Sophomore All-American Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden) broke one program record and matched another to lead Franklin Pierce University, ranked No. 2 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II preseason poll, to a 9-1 victory over Holy Family University, an NCAA Tournament participant a year ago, in non-conference women's soccer action at Sodexo Field this afternoon.

Johansson scored two goals in the second half just 32-seconds apart inside the 71st minute to break the previous program record for fastest consecutive goals by the same player set by Franklin Pierce Hall of Famer Pauliina Miettinen, who scored twice in a 36-second span against UMass Lowell on October 11, 1995. The second of those goals capped a program-record matching five goal day as Johansson returned for the Ravens after missing the entire postseason run last fall with an injury.

Senior Kelly Johnson dished three assists in the win.

Johansson's outburst comes a year and five days after she bagged four goals in the opening 16 minutes of a 9-0 win over Philadelphia University. It marks the sixth time in Franklin Pierce women's soccer history a player has netted five goals in a match, the last coming from former National Player of the Year Laura Hislop against Stonehill College on September 24, 2003. Miettinen scored five goals in a match twice during her career.

Also aiding in the Franklin Pierce victory was senior Kelly Johnson (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) with three assists, while classmate Ann Foley (Foxboro, Mass./Rockland), junior Mackenzie Bulych (Regina, Saskatchewan/Dr. Martin LeBoldus) and freshman Amanda Panaro (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) each collected a goal and assist on the afternoon. Joining Panaro in netting her first collegiate goal in the contest, was senior Kelly Sisco (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional).

Senior goalkeeper Brittany Ester (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) was unfortunate to extend her lengthy shutout streak in the win, as she yielded a goal on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, before exiting for the collegiate debut of freshman Jocelyn Leon (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial). The goal snapped a streak of eight-straight shutouts for Franklin Pierce and Ester, and is the first goal conceded by the Ravens in 864:26 - dating back to a 5-2 victory over Southern Connecticut State University in the regular season finale last season.

Freshman Amanda Panaro had a goal and assist in her collegiate debut.

Freshman Lindsay Fisher (Oakford, Pa./Archbishop Wood) netted the penalty kick for Holy Family. Freshman goalkeeper Gina Mansi (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) made two saves in goal for the Tigers in the first half, before giving way to junior Michelle Giambrone (Barrington, N.J./Seneca) who had five second-half stops.

Johansson opened Franklin Pierce's season scoring account just 70-seconds into the match with a volley at the top of the six off a cross from the right side by Bulych. Johansson added a second 4:29 into the match on Johnson's first assist of the day, before rounding out the hat-trick in the 12th minute, assisted by senior Kristen Cilley (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown), to put the Ravens up 4-0.

Franklin Pierce (1-0, 0-0 NE-10), preseason favorites in the Northeast-10 Conference, opens its league schedule on Tuesday night when it hosts American International College at 7 p.m. Holy Family (0-2, 0-0 CACC), preseason favorites in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, hosts the University of New Haven in a non-conference battle on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
