St. Rose Earns Tie With Franklin Pierce, 2-2

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2000)-- Freshman fullback Christina Paradise (Merimack, N.H.) scored the game-tying goal off a touch pass from sophomore forward Drea Porteus (Clifton Park, N.Y.) in the 78th minute to give Saint Rose a 2-2 draw against Franklin Pierce.

Saint Rose opened the scoring at 4:51 when Portus pushed the ball to the left corner where freshman midfielder Eliza Whipple (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) fed it across the top of the box for senior Sandra Greenman (Melville, N.Y.) who then blasted it in from 18 yards out.

The Ravens made it a 1-1 game at halftime when senior All-America forward Minna Mustonen (Helsinki, Finland) put home a corner kick off the foot of junior midfielder Julia Uusmalmi (Tampere, Finland) in the 41st minute. Mustonen then ricoched a blast off a pair of defenders before junior midfielder Christine Kirby (Florida, N.Y.) drove home the rebound to give Franklin Pierce a 2-1 advantage in the 62nd minute.

It was a back and forth affair that saw the Ravens outshoot Saint Rose 13-9 on the evening. Sophomore goalkeeper Kerri Volkmuth (Rochester, N.Y.) made six saves in her first career start for the College, while junior keeper Kara Shemeth (Edgartown, Mass.) stopped three shots for Franklin Pierce.
