Minna
Mustonen, Franklin Pierce (Sr, F, Helsinki, Finland) - In
a 1-0 week, the defending NCAA Division II scoring champion
recorded two goals (including one on a penalty kick) and two
assists in a 7-0 win at Stonehill. She posted the game-winner in
the 14th minute on a blast from the top of the 18-yard-box and set
up teammate Julia Uusmalmi's goal in the 45th minute with a short
pass inside the 18.
Notes: Franklin Pierce avenged
their only defeat to a team from New England in nine years when
they beat Stonehill, 7-0, Sunday in Easton, Mass. The Ravens' 2-1
loss to Stonehill last year snapped a 106-game win streak against
teams from New England. That was FPC's only loss in region since
1991. The Ravens have won 17-straight matches since last year's
loss

Notes: Franklin Pierce's Tournament Championship was the first in the college's first season in the Northeast-10. The Ravens had won all six women's soccer championships during their stay in the New England Collegiate Conference. The defending national champions are expected to receive their ninth-straight bid to the national tournament. Five-time champions are now 21-1 in postseason since 1994.

Co-Player of the Week: Tanja
Pihlblad, Franklin Pierce (Sr, F, Lonsoboda, Sweden) -
Continued red-hot scoring spree by scoring one goal in a 1-0 week.

Notes: Franklin Pierce, the
defending NCAA Division II champions, are now 22-1 in the
postseason since 1994. They are 6-0 all-time in New England
Regional games. After losing to the Owls during the regular season,
the Ravens came back to beat them in the NE-10 championship game
and the NCAA tournament. A loss in either game would have marked
the first time the Ravens lost twice to the same team in one season
since the program began in 1986. FP
is now on a six-match winning streak and has outscored its
opponents, 29-4 in that span.

NE-10 tournament and the first round while recovering from
pre-season knee surgery, Verdoes returned Saturday to score a goal
in the 6-0 win over Bloosmburg. Played the final 16 minutes and
flashed the form that allowed her to score 21 goals and set a NCAA
Division II single-season record with 24 assists as a freshman a
year ago.

the third time the Ravens have scored at least six goals in a
national tournament game. They beat Mercyhurst, 8-0, in a
quarterfinal game in 1995 and beat New Hampshire College, 6-2, in a
first-round match in 1997. They won the national championship in
each of those seasons.
