HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens got off to a rough start in the first quarter, giving up ten straight goals to the Hawks. Ayla McDermond opened the scoring within the first two minutes, followed by Jaycie Balboni scoring thirty seconds later. Balboni, Kendra Sabotka, Abigail Christmas, and McDermond all scored in the following five minutes to give the Hawks a 6-0 lead. As if that wasn't enough three more goals followed by McDermond, Lucy Mawn, and Christmas, before the Ravens where able to get their first of the game through Erin Mcllroy (Newfields, N.H.) with three minutes to play in the quarter. However, it would be Christmas who would close out the quarter completing her hattrick and settling the score 10-1.
- The Ravens came out guns blazing scoring within the first thirty seconds through Mcllroy yet again. That joy was short-lived as the Hawks responded with four unanswered goals through Balboni, Alyssa Hill, Samantha Rivet, and McDermond. Despite the clapback Country Hannes (Tyngsborough, MA) was able to find the back of the net through a free position shot and get the Ravens 3rd goal of the game to close out the score 14-3 at halftime.
- The Hawks continued their string of dominance in the third quarter. Christmas and McDermond got themselves on the scoresheet yet again before Hannes scored her second of the game to get one back for the Ravens. The confidence continued as Olivia Robb (East Longmeadow, MA) followed up two minutes after to cut the lead to 11. Three minutes later the hawks regained their momentum scoring through Mawn to close out the third quarter.
- The fourth quarter brought more of the same for both teams. The Hawks scored two in the first four minutes through Rivet, and Sabotka. Junior attacker Mcllroy completed her hattrick through a Riley Beem (Windham ME) assist a minute later followed by yet another Robb goal shortly after. Two minutes later Jackie Tattan scored another for the Hawks before Robb would get her third and final goal for her and the Ravens. The Hawks would get the last word as Devan Spinale scored the final goal of the game as the Ravens fell to the Hawks 21-8.
