RINDGE, N.H. (April 5, 2022) -- Graduate student Caroline Lounsbury (Franklin, Mass.) scored her 100th collegiate goal as part of a three-goal outing on Tuesday afternoon, and the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team used a four-goal fourth quarter to finish off a 12-7 win over Saint Michael's at Sodexo Field. Senior Morgan Baxendale (Orchard Park, N.Y.) led the charge for the Ravens, with five points on three goals and two assists. Freshman Addy Fenton contributed 2-1-3 in defeat for Saint Michael's in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 2-7 (2-5 NE10), while Saint Michael's falls to 1-8 (0-6 NE10).

Leading 8-6 heading into the final period, the Ravens scored the first three goals of the fourth, and outscored Saint Michael's 4-1 in the frame, to seal the deal. Ernst cut out front from the left side and popped her 26th of the season just 22 seconds into the stanza. Lounsbury then struck for her second and third of the afternoon in a span of less than two minutes, as she scampered out front from the left side at 10:38, and then slipped out front unmarked to receive a feed from Baxendale behind the net at 8:43. Saint Michael's got one back with 3:36 to play on freshman Allie Schofield's first of the season, but by then it was too little, too late for the Purple Knights.

Earlier in the day, Franklin Pierce had opened up a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Lounsbury capped the period with her 100th career score, with just 2.7 seconds remaining, as she took a feed from Baxendale behind the net and put home a quick finish on the right side. It looked as if it would be smooth sailing for the Ravens, but Saint Michael's had other ideas. The Purple Knights fought back with a 3-2 advantage in the second quarter and a 2-1 margin in the third, which created the two-goal game heading into the fourth.

Baxendale (3-2-5), Lounsbury (3-0-3) and senior Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah) (2-1-3) all had at least three points on the day for Franklin Pierce, while Baxendale added a game-high six ground balls along the way. Senior Megyn Ayotte (Guilford, Vt.) led the team with five draw controls, while senior Jacklyn Keane (Framingham, Mass.) caused a pair of turnovers.

For Saint Michael's, Fenton (2-1-3) was the only player with multiple points on the afternoon, and she led all players with six draw controls as well.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Bacik (Huntington Station, N.Y.) finished with seven saves against 14 shots in the Franklin Pierce crease to pick up the win (2-1). Freshman Abby Cole (1-2) made nine saves against 21 shots at the other end and suffered the loss.

The Ravens remain home on Saturday, to host Saint Rose in an NE10 contest at 4 p.m. at Sodexo Field.
