Ravens back in action Saturday at American International

Ravens Lacrosse The Ravens are back in action on Saturday afternoon at American International.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 23, 2011) – Sophomore attacker Alex Carney led all players with six points on four goals and two assists on Thursday afternoon to lead Bentley to a 19-7 win over the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Junior attacker Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) led Franklin Pierce with three points on a goal and two assists.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 3-1 (0-1 Northeast-10), while Bentley improves to 2-3 (1-1 Northeast-10).

Franklin Pierce got things started on the right foot, as senior attacker Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.) found the net just 36 seconds into the contest off a feed from the right side by freshman midfielder Julie Hemphill (Clarkston, Mich.). However, it would be the only point of the afternoon for Baillargeon, as well as Franklin Pierce's only goal in the opening 25 minutes of the contest. Bentley ran off the next seven goals of the game, scored by seven different players, to storm to a 7-1 lead.

The Ravens got back-to-back goals from junior attacker Brianna Nash (Oceanside, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Lindsey Leach (Hamden, Conn.), both assisted by Stille, 55 seconds apart later in the half to cut the lead to 7-3, but would get no closer the rest of the afternoon.

After a goal by senior attacker Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) with 26:02 to play in the second half cut the lead to 11-6, Bentley netted eight of the final nine goals of the afternoon to pull away for the 19-7 win.

Mary Kate Stille and Leach were the only multiple-point scorers on the afternoon for Franklin Pierce, as the latter finished with a pair of goals. Defensively for the Ravens, five different players collected three ground balls each, while Lauren Stille forced a pair of turnovers.

Behind Carney for Bentley, three other players finished with three points apiece, while seven different players scored at least two goals on the afternoon, led by Carney's four and three from sophomore attacker Margeaux Guercia. Defensively, four different Falcons picked up three ground balls each, while junior defender Maureen Fields caused four turnovers.

Junior goalkeeper Jill Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H.) made 15 saves and took the loss (3-1) in front of the net for Franklin Pierce. Junior Kate Poznick started between the pipes for Bentley and made two saves over the first 38:11 of the game to pick up the win (1-2).

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, March 26, when they travel to American International for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Game time is set for noon at Ronald J. Abdow Field in Springfield, Mass.
