HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Franklin Pierce kicked off the game with a strong start, scoring three goals on just five shots in the first period. Around two minutes into the game, junior forward Sydnee Wilson notched her first goal of the 2024-25 season. Wilson collected the puck from Emma Laroche (Highgate, Vt.) in the defensive zone and sent it deep toward the Greyhounds' goalie. A fortunate deflection sent the puck into the net, putting the Ravens on the scoreboard.
  • Five minutes later, Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) won a faceoff and set up Courtney Swenson perfectly, placing the puck on her stick. Swenson fired a shot from near the blue line that found the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
  • Nearing the end of the first period, Ashley Wright (Milford, Conn.) fired a shot that deflected off the goalie and landed on Bo Dean's stick, allowing Dean to tap it into the net and extend the lead to 3-0.
  • The Greyhounds would land a tally on the board seconds into the final period. Rachel Agerter found Jenna Chaplin, for a Greyhounds goal.

INSIDE THE CREASE:

  • Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) would be crucial in net for the Ravens with 41 saves.
  • Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 42-20.
  • The Greyhounds were the only team to score on the powerplay, as they were 1-for-7, while the Ravens were scoreless on their only opportunity.
