Hertl becomes the first student-athlete in program history to receive the All-USCHO honor, and joins representatives of eleven other programs as a All-USCHO Women's Division I team honoree. Joining Hertl on the USCHO All-Rookie team from the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) is Stonehill's Alexis Petford (F).

This past season, Hertl held the top goals against average (1.81), save percentage (.934) and win percentage (.569) amongst all first year goaltenders in Division-I. Her goals against average was also the top in the NEWHA, where she played in 25 games and recorded a 13-9-3 overall record with six shutouts. Down the stretch, Hertl was a three-time NEWHA Goaltender of the Week, a four-time NEWHA Rookie of the Week, and was included in a group of five players in the Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Year watch list.

Hertl was also awarded as an All-Rookie Team selectee from the NEWHA.

After defeating Sacred Heart University in the conference quarterfinal round (best of three), Pierce women's hockey saw their campaign come to a close in the single-elimination semifinals against top-seeded Long Island University (LIU), 2-1 in overtime.
