WINTHROP, MASS. (2/6/23) – Out of a group of five total student-athletes from three New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA), a pair of Ravens made the cut as selectees to the Hockey Commissioner's Association (HCA) National Women's Rookie of the Year watch list, which was formally revealed by the league office on Thursday, February 2nd.

The Franklin Pierce duo consisted of freshman forward Avery Farrell (Otsego, Minn.), as well as first-year goaltender Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.). Together they join other first-year standouts such as Stonehill College's Sydney Russell and Alexis Petford, as well as Saint Anselm's Brooklyn Pancoast.

Through 28 games played this season, Farrell currently sits tied for the team lead in total points, as well as tied for 8th in the NEWHA, having scored 10 goals with 12 assists for 22 points (10-12-22). Additionally, Farrell has been a consistent threat on the Ravens' power play, ranked 3rd on the team with three goals scored.

This season, Hertl has started in 22 total contests for Pierce, through which she has posted an 11-8-3 overall record, a 1.96 goals-against average, and a .929 save percentage. As a freshman, her current goals-against average is ranked 18th best in all of NCAA Division-I, and leads all active freshman goaltenders.
