Women’s Ice Hockey’s Kison Selected as NEWHA Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. (September 28, 2022) -- Senior Ava Kison (Eau Claire, Wis.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team has been named as New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player of the Week, for the week ending on Sept. 25, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the NEWHA office.
Kison and the Ravens opened the season on Saturday, with a trip to No. 14/15 nationally ranked Boston College. The senior forward netted the team's only goal, which tied the game at 1-1 heading into the third period of what was eventually a 4-1 loss. Kison recorded two shots in the game, and also blocked a pair of shots as well, as part of a Franklin Pierce defensive effort which blocked 18 shots on the day.
The Ravens (0-1-0) have an exhibition contest on the calendar this week, as they host University of New Brunswick on Saturday, Oct. 1. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
