Hertl Claims Fourth Goaltender of the Week Honors From NEWHA

WINTHROP, Mass. (2/22/23) – Per their official announcement made by the league offices on Tuesday, February 21st, freshman netminder Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) returned as the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Goaltender of the Week.

For Hertl, it is her fourth time this season receiving the weekly honor, while also having earned Rookie of the week accolades three times earlier in the campaign.

Over the past weekend, Hertl went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .971 in two appearances against conference leader LIU. The first-year standout combined for 67 saves across the two-game span, including a 38 save performance in a 3-2 victory on Friday.  With her fifth shutout of the season, Hertl additional halted all-29 shots faced in their 2-0 win on Saturday. Hertl currently ranks 2nd in the NEWHA in conference goals against average (1.92), and third in save percentage (.931).

Following Friday's victory, women's ice hockey secured home ice advantage in the NEWHA Quarterfinal round, where they will face-off with No. 5 Sacred Heart in a best-of-three series through the weekend. Game one will be on Friday, February 24th at 4:00 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.
