WINCHENDON, Mass. (October 2, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team was on home ice for the first time in 2021-22 on Saturday night, as the Ravens met Team Bauer in their second and final exhibition tune-up. Courtney Turner (Union) scored twice, both times off assists from Meghan Grieves (Boston College), as the visitors chalked up a 3-0 victory at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Team Bauer represents the Boston chapter of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association, with a roster composed largely of former Division I talent.

After a scoreless first period, Turner got things started at 9:14 of the second period, after Grieves fed her heading into the attacking end on the left side. Turner made a deke move outside the top of the circle to get to the middle and open a shooting lane. She would not miss from the high slot, as she picked the top-right corner.

Team Bauer added a pair of special-teams goals in the third period to push the final margin out to 3-0. On the power play at 3:48, Lillian Ribeirhina-Braga (Boston Univ.) let a slap shot fly from the middle of the blue line, which was wired straight into the upper reaches of the net. Later, while shorthanded, Grieves and Turner hooked up again, as the former cleared the puck from her own end boards and the latter chased it down on the other side of the far blue line, in the attacking zone. Suddenly on a partial break, Turner crashed straight to the net and finished off her second of the night.

Franklin Pierce was at its best in the second period, when the Ravens put together an 11-8 advantage in shots, but were unable to find the back of the net. Team Bauer ran up shots margins of 12-6 in the first and 15-6 to post an advantage of 35-23 for the game.

Senior Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) started in net for the Ravens, made 17 saves against 18 shots over the opening 31:22 and suffered the loss. Sophomore Suzette Faucher (Middleton, Wis.) took over from there and stopped 15 of 17 shots over the final 28:38.

Team Bauer split its goaltenders as well. Brittany Ott (Maine) started and stopped all 11 shots she faced over the opening 29:14 to pick up the win. Terra Lanteigne (RIT) went the rest of the way and made 12 saves over 30:46 to finish off the shutout.

With two exhibitions now in the books, Franklin Pierce will open the regular season next weekend, with a two-game trip to Mercyhurst on Oct. 8-9. The Ravens and Lakers will meet at 6:05 p.m. on Friday and 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, at Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa.
