New England Women's Hockey Alliance Weekly Release

WINTHROP, Mass. (February 24, 2022) -- For the second straight week, freshman Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) and graduate student Katerina Dajia (Aurora, Ontario) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team have earned weekly awards from the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance. This time around, Kelley was selected as Player of the Week, while Dajia picked up her second straight Defensive Player of the Week accolade, for the week ending on Feb. 20, as announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Kelley went for five points, on three goals and two assists, as the Ravens picked up a trio of wins last week. She popped a power-play insurance marker in the third period at Saint Anselm on Tuesday, scored in the second and assisted on the third-period game-winner against LIU on Friday, and scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the first period against the Sharks on Saturday. In all, Kelley recorded 13 shots over the three games -- including seven at Saint Anselm on Tuesday -- and was +4 on the week.

Meanwhile, Dajia keyed a defensive effort which surrendered just three goals and 74 shots over the three games. She added an assist in the third period at Saint Anselm on Tuesday for good measure, and blocked seven shots over the three games. Dajia recorded seven shots of her own and was +2 on the week.

On the season, Kelley has played in all 28 games for the Ravens and tallied 15 points, on eight goals and seven assists. She has recorded 65 shots, is +5, and is currently riding a five-game goal-scoring streak (5-3-8). Dajia has played in 20 games and recorded 11 points, on three goals and eight assists. She has put 46 shots on net and leads the team in plus/minus at +22.

Kelley, Dajia and the rest of the Ravens (19-8-1, 15-3-0 NEWHA) will wrap up the regular season on the road this weekend, with a pair at Sacred Heart. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton, Conn.
