Women’s Ice Hockey Has 22 Earn NEWHA All-Academic Team Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. (July 22, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team has had 22 student-athletes named to the New England Women's Hockey Alliance All-Academic Team for the 2020-21 season, as announced earlier this month by the NEWHA.
The Ravens' selections were led by a trio of student-athletes who posted perfect, 4.0 grade-point averages during the last academic year: junior Bridget Fagan (Millis, Mass.), senior Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) and junior Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.). The three were among 12 players league-wide who shared NEWHA Student-Athlete of the Year accolades by posting the highest GPAs in the alliance. For Fagan, it is her second straight year among those sharing NEWHA Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have posted a GPA of at least 3.0 in both the fall and spring semesters.
A total of 114 NEWHA student-athletes earned All-Academic Team honors. Franklin Pierce's 22 honorees was tied for second, with Long Island University, in the six-team alliance. The Ravens' All-Academic Team members were as follows:
