Women’s Golf: Ravens Capture Sixth NE10 Conference Title

SUTTON, Mass. (09/30/2024) - The Franklin Pierce women's golf team participated in the 2024 Northeast-10 Conference Champion starting on Sunday, September 29. The Ravens captured their fifth title over the last seven season, the sixth in school history.

After the first round of play, Franklin Pierce and New Haven – the two most recent league champions – were tied atop the team leaderboard at 15-over (303). Heading into Monday, three players were tied on the individual leaderboard. Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand), the reigning individual medalist at the NE10 Championship, shot one-over (73) to lead the teams' performance.

Through 18 holes at the Blackstone National Golf Club, all five golfers from Franklin Pierce ranked in the top 11 on the individual leaderboard – including Prukmathakul tied for first and Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand) in fourth. Yiyou Chen (Shanghai, China) was tied for fifth, Tess Dietz (Flager Beach, Fla.) was 10th and Lorelai Flanagan was 11th (Arlington, Mass.).

On the second day of competition, the Ravens were led by individual medalist Ruayruen, flying away with a nine-stroke win after a +21 day two. Ruayruen came from behind herself, overtaking UNH's Erin Earl for the individual lead and captaining a resounding FPU effort.  All five Ravens finished in the top 10 with last season's medalist, Prukmathakul, finishing three strokes off the lead.

The Championship was a 36-hole event and hosted six teams, including the Bentley Falcons for the first time in conference history. The NE10 began sponsoring a women's golf championship in the 2014-15 academic season.  Since that time only Franklin Pierce, Merrimack and New Haven have captured conference gold.
