ERIE, Pa. (September 19, 2021) -- It was a new event on Sunday, but the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team picked up right where it left off on Saturday. Freshman Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) fired an opening-round 73 (+1) to hold a two-shot lead at the midway point of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic, hosted by Gannon. On the team front, it was a Sunday 312 (+24) for the Ravens, who hold a one-shot lead over the host Knights at the 5803-yard, par-72 Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Prukmathakul, fresh off medalist honors in her collegiate debut at Friday/Saturday's Evann Parker Memorial, heads a similar, 69-golfer Sunday/Monday field by two shots after the opening round. She leads a pair who turned in three-over rounds of 75, including her own teammate, freshman Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand). Ruayruen shares second with Gannon freshman Andrea Martinez.

Behind the pair of Thai golfers, junior Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) made it three Ravens in the top 10, as she carded an opening-round 78 (+6) and is in a three-way tie for sixth. The final member of Franklin Pierce's scoring four was sophomore Kayla Schuberth (Wrentham, Mass.), who tallied an 86 (+14) and is tied-21st. Junior Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas) rounded out the lineup with a 15-over 87, and is tied-23rd.

It all added up to 312 (+24) for the Ravens, which put them out in front by a shot heading into Monday's final round. Host Gannon is only one back at 313 (+25), which should set up a competitive second day. Charleston (W.Va.), which was Franklin Pierce's closest competition at the Evann Parker Memorial, could muster only a 345 (+57) and sits 33 shots back in fourth, at the 12-team tournament.

Sophomore Alexis St. Laurent (Nashua, N.H.) was out on the course as an individual for the Ravens as well. She put together a first-round 83 (+11) and is tied-15th.

The Michael Corbett Fall Classic will wrap up with its second round on Monday at Whispering Woods.
