INDIANAPOLIS (April 26, 2022) -- With its win at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship back in October, the Franklin Pierce University women’s golf team has long been assured of an automatic bid in this spring’s NCAA Championship. On Monday afternoon, the NCAA made it official, as the full 48-team field was announced. The Ravens were selected as the eighth seed in the East Region, and will travel to Kansas City. East Regional competition is slated for May 2-4 at Shoals Creek Golf Club, and William Jewell College will serve as the host institution. It is the second straight NCAA berth for Franklin Pierce, and the program’s third overall.

The Ravens take the region’s eighth seed -- up one spot from a year ago -- after a rather dominant year on the links. Franklin Pierce won four of the five tournaments it competed in during the fall, including its second straight NE10 title, and heads into NCAA play winners of back-to-back tournaments to finish off the spring.

Franklin Pierce is the NE10’s only representative in the massive East Region, which consists of six conferences with automatic bids and stretches as far west as Missouri. Findlay earned the top seed after claiming the Great Midwest Athletic Conference title. The region also boasts 2015 and 2018 national champion Indianapolis as the second seed, as well as 2004 and 2006 national runner-up Ferris State as the 13th seed.

Three other regional sites across the country will feature varying numbers of teams. The top five teams at the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship National Finals, which will take place on May 10-14 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.
