PREVIEW: Women’s Golf Headed Back to NCAA Regionals This Time in Indiana

RINDGE, N.H. (April 30, 2021) For the second time in the history of the program, the no. 9 regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University women's golf team will take part in the 2021 NCAA Division II Tournament East Regional from Monday, May 3rd to Wednesday, May 5th at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.

The Ravens last reached regional competition during the 2017-18 campaign and placed eighth (949, +85) at the regionals while former golfer Camden Morrison (T5th, 222, +6) moved on as an individual to her second straight NCAA Championship appearance.

SCOUTING THE RAVENS

This season, the Crimson and Grey played limited golf in the spring due to COVID-19. They started off the year finishing fifth out of seven teams, all Division I opponents at the Hartford Invite. A few weeks later, the Ravens dropped a head-to-head to Division I Merrimack College by 20 strokes. From there, the Ravens took home the team championship at Assumption and won their second straight and third overall Northeast-10 Conference Championship to earn the conference automatic bid to regionals. Franklin Pierce is the NE10's only representative in the East Region.

HOW THE RAVENS LINEUP

Franklin Pierce will head to Indiana with the following five-golfer lineup to the Prairie View Golf Club, a par 72, 6,198 yard course.

Yamamoto, who is the only golfer in the lineup with regional experience will golf from the top slot. The team captain was the NE10 Golfer of the Week this year and has not finished lower than third place in all three invitational for the Ravens. At the Hartford Invitational, in a field of all Division I golfers, Yamamoto was the co-medalist shooting a 72 (E) scorecard. In the Ravens' invitational win on Monday at Assumption, she placed second with an 83 (+11) showing. At the NE10 Championship, Yamamoto paced the field with medalist honors firing a 167 (+25) for her third conference championship and second All-Championship Team honors.
