Merrimack Bests Women’s Golf in Head-to-Head Competition

CANDIA, N.H. (April 7, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team hosted the FPU Women's Spring Invitational, a head-to-head competition against NCAA Division I program Merrimack College and suffered a 20 stroke loss Wednesday afternoon.

The Ravens and Warriors played the par 72, 5,865-yard course at the Candia Woods Golf Links one time through for 18 holes. Pierce lost the bout 295 (+7)-to-315 (+27).

Six Raven golfers took part in the battle for the Ravens. Graduate student Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) was the leader for FPU tying for third at 76 (+3). Sophomore Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) shot a 78 (+6) while graduate Taylor Hartley (Las Vegas, Nev.) (80, +8), freshman Kayla Schuberth (Wrentham, Mass.) (81, +9) and freshman Alexis St. Laurent (Nashua, N.H.) (88, +16) rounded out the team scoring.

Sophomore Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas) competed as an individual and turned in an 89 (+17) scorecard.

FPU returns to the links next Friday, April 16th at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Mass.
