Ravens Win Third Tournament of Fall Season, Three Finish in Top-10 at Keene

KEENE, N.H. (September 23, 2019) Led by three top-10 finishers, the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team took home their third team tournament title in as many chances Monday afternoon at the FPU Women's Fall Invitational, hosted by the Keene Country Club, a par-72, 5,924-yard course.

The Ravens, who were already victorious at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational and the Le Moyne Invitational captured their third championship in during the opening month. Last year, the crimson and gray won three invites during their entire 2018-19 campaign.

After the awards ceremony, the team honored their four seniors, Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine), Taylor Hartley (Canton, Ga.), Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.), Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) and one graduate student, Maddie Myers (Colchester, Vt.) for their contributions to the program and university.

As a team, Pierce shot 627 (+51) earning an 11 stroke win over fellow Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College (638, +62). Southern New Hampshire University followed in third place at 645 (+69).

Reigning NE10 Golfer and Rookie of the Week Jinnapat Rittawee (Kanchanaburi, Thailand) fired a team-leading 149 (+5) to tie for second place with Florence Leduc of Laval University. Rittawee led the field in par 3 scoring at 3.00 (E) and ranked second in birdies (7). Catherine French of Assumption catapulted five slots on the individual leaderboard knocking off nine strokes from her first-round score shooting a 69 (-3) second round to win medalist honors at 147 (+3).

Team captain, Zoey Yamamoto placed fourth carding 153 (+9). Yamamoto was the only golfer to record an eagle over the course of the two days. Harley climbed into the top-10 after dropping two strokes from her score to complete the tourney at 158 (+14). Hartley paced the field in pars (24) as well.

Freshman Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and sophomore Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) wrapped up the tourney at 167 (+23) and 173 (+29).

Six Ravens competed as individuals. Jones finished third out of all individuals in 14th place at 163 (+19). Newcomer Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas), tied for 20th ending the two rounds at 169 (+25) which made six Pierce golfers in the top-20. Myers was 34 over par (178), sophomore Taylor Kelly (Newington, Conn.) produced a 181 (+37) score while Caron (182, +38) and freshman Liz Crandall (Pawcatuck, Conn.) (190, +46) each subtracted eight and 11 strokes from their first-round cards respectively.

The Ravens hit the links next Monday for their final tune-up before the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the Penmen Fall Invitational.
