RISING SUN, Md. (March 26, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team traveled to Rising Sun, Md. to take part in the Battle at the Bay hosted by Eastern University on Sunday.

The Ravens are currently in first place (324, +40) out of 17 teams following the first day of competition at the Chesapeake Bay Country Club, a par 71 and 5,824 yard course. FPU has a six stroke advantage over second place Gannon University (330, +46) and a 19 stroke lead against third place Randolph-Macon College. Fellow Northeast-10 conference opponents Le Moyne College (344, +60) and Adelphi University (387, +103) rank fourth and 11th respectively.

Reigning NE10 Golfer of the Week, junior Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) is currently tied for second place at 79 (+8). Teammate Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) sits one stroke behind Morrison as she shot an 80 (+9) on the first 18. NE10 Rookie of the Week, Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) and junior Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) rank within the individual leaderboards top-10 with scorecards of 82 (+11) and 83 (+12). Freshman Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) rounds out the day one scoring as she stroked a 97 (+26).

Morrison and Yamamoto led the Ravens in birdies with two apiece while Daley matched her fellow Morrison with seven pars.

The Ravens will look to capture the team title tomorrow with another strong day of golf.
