Morrison leads Women's Golf to victory at LeMoyne Fall Shootout
BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (October 4, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University Women's Golf team had to make a little extra room in their transportation home on Sunday afternoon, as they were led by sophomore Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) to a first place team finish at the LeMoyne Fall Shootout at Timber Banks Golf Club.
Not only did Morrison help the Ravens to an overall win, finishing 35 strokes better than the second place team, Hamilton, but Morrison also took home the individual championship by shooting a 76 to pair with her 77 from Saturday for the win by four strokes over Amber Thompson-Newton from Post University. Three other Ravens also finished in the top 10 on the leaderboard.
Sophomore Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) found herself with a solid score for the weekend, shooting an 82 for a weekend score of 163, finishing in a tie for third. Freshman Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) made a case to be the top rookie in the conference this week, as she shot an 82 for the second consecutive day to finish fifth overall. Sophomore Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) slipped a little on Sunday, shooting an 88 to go along with an 81 to finish seventh overall for the tournament. Rounding out the Ravens action was freshman Shannon Slater (Stafford Springs, Conn.) who shot a tournament total of 204, finishing in a tie for 24th.
The Ravens return to the links on October 18 & 19 when they play host to the Franklin Pierce Fall Shootout at Bretwood Golf Club in Keene, N.H.
