Ravens Knock Down Pins at Second Day of Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. (November 19, 2016) - The Franklin Pierce women's bowling team competed at day two of the Hawk Classic at the Millsboro Lanes on Saturday.

The team went 2-4 on the second day of competition with a 991-819 victory over no. 17 nationally-ranked Kutztown and a 965-811 win against no. 23 nationally-ranked Norfolk. FPU currently stands in 14th place out of 18 teams with a total pinfall of 9,859 good enough for a 180.4 average.

In the win over Kutztown, team captain Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) rolled a 238 which was the highest score of the day for the Crimson and Grey. Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) tallied a 221 and Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.) racked up a 190. Versus Norfolk, Peirce led the way with a 234 score. Teammate Sarah Busse (Commack, N.Y.) bowled 192 and Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in a 191.

Davies and Peirce added two high scores in the Ravens setbacks as Davies threw a 222 against North Carolina A&T and Peirce roped in a 195.

After today, Davies is currently in 24th place out of 130 qualified bowlers with a total pinfall of 1,157 and an average of 192.83.

The Ravens return to action tomorrow for the final day of competition.
