Bowling Holds Second Place after First Day of East Coast Conference Championship

READING, Pa. (March 25, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University bowling team competed in the inaugural Eastern Coast Conference Championship on Friday at Hiester Lanes. After finishing the first day with a record of 4-1 in round robin play, the Ravens hold second place overall.

The Ravens played a total of five round-robin matches on the first day of the Championship. Overall, the Ravens dropped a total of 4384 pins on the day, an average of 877 per match.

Leading Franklin Pierce in the first day of ECC Championship, with a total of 970 pins on the day, and a match high of 237 pins against Adelphi, was sophomore Nikki Vucak (Garfield, N.J.). Sophomore Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) was right behind her with 932 total pinfall on the day.

In the first match of the day, the Ravens faced Felician in a close match, but Franklin Pierce prevailed and took its first win with a final score of 890-874. Davies and Brittany Hovan (Paramus, N.J.) took the lead in the first match, as Davies shot 203 while Hovan shot 190.

The Ravens met up with Adelphi for the second match of the day. Vucak had a match high of 237 pins dropped to aid in the win against the Panthers, by a 900-874 final score.

Franklin Pierce played the Daemen Wildcats for the third match of the day. With high scores coming from sophomore Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.), who dropped 215 pins, and Davies with 190, the Ravens took their third straight win of the day, 895-659.

In the fourth match of the day, the Ravens fall to host Kutztown, 1090-874.

The final match of the day was against Molloy, and Vucak notched a high of 204 total pinfall in the match to set the Ravens up for the win, 825-697, for a 4-1 finish on the day.

With their winning record Friday, the Ravens earned a bye through the remainder of the day and start the final day of the Championship from the second position.
