READING, Pa. (January 24, 2016) -- Despite sophomore Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) rolling a 255 -- the high score of the day for the Franklin Pierce University bowling team -- the Ravens were unable to pull through with a win and struck out on the final day of the KU Invitational, hosted by Kutztown, on Sunday. The Ravens played three traditional style matches on the day to round out their time at the event, which had its schedule rearranged several times do to this weekend's wintry weather.

The Ravens bowled a high of 932 in their first match-up, against Wisconsin Whitewater, where Kelly was able to knock down 255 pins to post the team's high score for the day. In all, the team averaged 907 pins across three matches on the final day. Against Wisconsin Whitewater, the Ravens knocked out a total of 932 pins but their opponent was able to out-shoot them, with the final score standing at 1015-932.

The Ravens next got a re-match with Bethune-Cookman, who they played on Friday, and were able to keep the pace with a total pin fall of 896. Sophomore Brittany Hovan (Paramus, N.J.) led the Ravens in the match with a total of 205. In the end, the Ravens were not able to keep up and ultimately fell, 920-896.

In the last match of the Invitational the Ravens met back up with McKendree, and Hovan again took out the most pins, with 211. However, her pin drop was not enough to defeat the No. 9 nationally-ranked Bearcats, 1135-894.

Overall, Hovan led the team with an average of 205 pins across her three games on the day, with Kelly trailing closely behind at 199 pins.

The Ravens return to action on Feb. 12-14, when they return to Kutztown for the Golden Bear Classic.
