Women's Basketball Closes Season with 70-54 Loss at Bentley in NE10 Quarterfinal

WALTHAM, Mass. (2/26/23) - The magic ran out for the twelfth-seeded Franklin Pierce Ravens as they fell to the fourth-seeded Bentley University in the NE-10 Quarterfinals on Sunday losing 70-54.  

The loss concludes the Ravens' season, finishing with a record of 9-20 (4-17 NE10) overall. The defending conference champion Bentley Falcons move to 19-9 (14-6 NE10) overall and they move on to the NE-10 Semi-Final vs. Pace University.  

The Ravens started out strong in the first half, leading the Falcons 29-28 at halftime. Both teams were evenly matched, shooting the same exact 40.7% from the field. The difference came in rebounds with the Ravens grabbing 19 boards compared to the Falcons' 14. Junior guard Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) led the Ravens in scoring through the first 20-minutes played, notching 11 points. Junior Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) also contributed six points, while freshman Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, Conn.) and junior Ines Gimenez Monserrat (Mallorca, Spain) also had four points each through the first half. 

However, things ultimately spiraled out of control for Pierce in the second half. In the final 20 minutes, the Falcons outscored the Ravens 42-25, with 25 of those points coming from just the third quarter alone, shooting 53.3% from the field as compared to the Ravens' 38.1%. The Falcons also controlled the boards with 16 in total, which often translated into points on the other end of the court. compared to the Ravens' 12. In the fourth quarter, Collette Mulderig would be the only offensive voice for the Ravens, as she scored all of their 11 points to close out the game.

Following her strong effort in the fourth quarter, Colette Mulderig would go on to lead the day with a career-best 21 points scored, shooting 8-of-12 in total along with 12 rebounds to confirm her first collegiate double-double. Anna Badosa Soler also fared well in the effort, finishing with 18 total points scored. As a team, Pierce would shoot 19-of-48 (39.6%) from the field, including a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity line, while also out-rebounding the Falcons by a 31-30 margin.
